Portrait of a Gentleman Terraforming by Aidan Doyle

“The last painting on our tour will probably be familiar from its usage in political memes. It depicts an unknown man operating an atmospheric generator and is commonly used to express the idea of getting the job done. The loss of records means we don’t know anything about the artist, other than that she died during the first civil war. The first settlers on Mars didn’t abandon the immense task of making this world more livable. We no longer need atmospheric generators, but this art asks us to consider how we can make our world a better place to live.”

Aidan Doyle is an Australian writer and whose stories have been published in Lightspeed, Strange Horizons, and Fireside.
