Exo-Heart Love by Joachim Heijndermans

Is it an ideal situation?  No.  Not in the slightest.  But you’ll live.  Your blood will continue to be pumped through your body until we can find you a better, permanent match.  It looks wonky as all hell, my heart encased in a cylinder on the table, wrapped in tubes.  But it does the job.  Just hang in there for now.

In the meantime, I’ll manage with this old Exo unit I got on the cheap.  Six-hundred on a bid, if you can believe it.  It beeps a bit much though.

Yeah, not ideal in the slightest.  But we’ll manage.

Joachim Heijndermans writes and draws nearly every waking hour. Originally from the Netherlands, he’s crossed the world, boring people with trivia. His work has been featured in many publications. His short story ‘All Through the House’ was adapted by ‘Love, Death and Robots’, the animated science fiction anthology on Netflix.
