New Frontier by Deborah Walker

Billy lays a trail of broken promises, lives fracturing on distant worlds. Gotta keep moving.

In the marketplace, he buys some company. She’s thin and yellow, sharp toothed, but it don’t bother him none. All females are the same.

Billy sets up his clever deals, buying and selling alien dreams, while his woman takes care of him at night.

Time comes for Billy to move on, his creditors clawing at the door. But he can’t leave his yellow skinned honey. Maybe Billy’s found love at last.

Skeleton thin, Billy reaches for her. Plump and juicy she takes her final payment.

Deborah Walker grew up in the most English town in the country, but she soon high-tailed it down to London, where she now lives with her partner, Chris, and her two teenage children. Her stories have appeared in Fantastic Stories of the Imagination, Nature’s Futures, Lady Churchill’s Rosebud Wristlet and The Year’s Best SF 18 and have been translated into over a dozen languages.
